What type of features are a must in my website hosting package???

First of all... to understand exactly what features your website hosting company must provide, you would need to know what type of website you want to put out there on the internet.

Now as HostPnut provides the same extensive list of features in all of its packages which can be used for pretty much all types of websites (from informational to fully fledged e-commerce sites), your major consideration should be focused on:

1. How many Gb storage space do I need?

2. How much Bandwidth do I require?

Storage Space

Now this is an easy one... When you have created your website on your home PC with DreamWeaver, FrontPage, XSitePro, Joomla, etc.. or alternatively received your completed website from your Web Designer, the size of your web page is available by right clicking on your website file and looking at its size under "Properties".

For any standard website the above method should provide you with a fairly accurate view of how much disc space you need to 'rent' from your website hosting company. If your website however includes items to download, and other items such as databases, etc., you may need to increase your estimation of the size required.

Bandwidth

Bandwidth is in a few words defined as the amount of data that may be downloaded from your website per month by users on the internet. (Please just keep in mind that when a user opens a page on your website, it is seen that the user has 'downloaded' the information and pictures of your website to be displayed on his/her computer)

An easy way to calculate the monthly bandwidth that you will need for your site, is by using the below formula.

Required Bandwidth = [(Average Visitors per day x Average Pages Viewed per Vistor x Average Size of a Page) + (Average File Downloads per day x Average File Size Download) ] x Number of days in a month x Safety Factor

Average Visitors per day: The amount of visitors to your website you expect per day
Average Pages Viewed per Visitor: The amount of pages you expect a visitor to view on your site per day
Average Size of a Page: The average storage space that a page in your website would need
Average File Downloads per day: The average amount of file downloads you expect to occur per day
Average Files Size Download: The average size of the files your website provides for downloads
Number of days in a month: 30 Days should work fine
Safety Factor: A factor between 1.4 to 1.9
